Their new signings Harry Maguire, Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka all looked the part in the 4-0 rout over Chelsea on the opening weekend at Old Trafford.

  • CHRISTIAN PULISIC did not join Manchester United because of Jose Mourinho, it has been revealed.

    The 20-year-old enjoyed a short stint with non-League side Brackley Town when he was just seven.

    Brackley youth coach Robin Walker has now revealed why he snubbed United for Chelsea.

    He told The Telegraph: “I'm a Chelsea fan, I grew up in London supporting them. When I was in Dortmund last year, I told him that he had to come.

    “He wouldn't go to Manchester United because of Jose Mourinho. His father couldn't stand Mourinho, because he didn't promote young players.”

  • ALEXIS SANCHEZ 'turned down' the chance to sign for Roma despite Manchester United agreeing to pay a large part of his wages, according to reports.

    The Chilean, 30, has flopped dramatically since signing for the Red Devils last January and the club are keen to get his £505,000-a-week pay off the wage bill.

    But according to the Mirror, the forward rejected the chance to revive his career at Roma.

    It is thought a loan deal with an option to buy was agreed between United and the Serie A club.

    According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Inter's other options include former Tottenham and Swansea striker Llorente.
