MANCHESTER UNITED should prioritise signing Bruno Fernandes over Paulo Dybala or Christian Eriksen – and fight to keep hold of Paul Pogba.
According to the stats, Sporting playmaker Fernandes, 24, bettered Pogba, Dybala and Eriksen in 2018-19.
Creatively, the Portugal star was streets ahead of the trio, scoring 20 goals, laying on 13 assists and creating over 100 chances.
In fact, in 14 creative categories, Fernandes boasted the best stats in EIGHT of those – including shot conversion rate, goal involvements and minutes per goal.
Pogba leads the way in terms of having an eye for a pass, making 51 successful passes per 90 minutes – firing across 1,713 last season in all.
Dybala has the best passing success rate, but possibly by virtue of attempting far fewer.
Tottenham star Eriksen, meanwhile, tops just one category – games played – as he languishes behind the likes of Fernandes across the board.
Man Utd have been chasing Fernandes all summer, but have turned the attention to focus on completing a deal for No1 target Harry Maguire more recently.
At one stage it appeared United had almost given up in their pursuit of Fernandes.
But fortunately for fans, the deal appears to be back on – with the midfielder crying after being subbed off in the pre-season friendly against Valencia.
The tears seemed to suggest Fernandes knew his time at Sporting – where's he played since 2017 – was up.
However, United have also been strongly linked with a move for £81m-rated Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio.
On top of that, Pogba appears to be on his way to Real Madrid after the club reignited their interest with a proposed £145m bid.
