There’s nothing like a fresh lick of polish to subtly lift your mood.
As we approach the spring, brands launch new (and sometimes limited edition) collections for SS21.
That’s no different for nails, so we’ve rounded up some of our favourite new releases alongside a few classics for the brighter and lighter season.
Before you go ahead and paint your nails, be sure to clean them thoroughly, file them into shape then buff them for a smooth texture.
We recommend always starting with a base coat to prevent staining – particularly with vivid and deep colours.
These are the nail polishes we’ll be wearing throughout spring.
OPI Nail Lacquer, Hollywood & Vibe
Buy it for £13.90 from OPI.
It wouldn’t be spring without a colour reminiscent of blossom petals.
This polish – from the SS21 collection from the nail giant that is OPI – applies in a sheerer finish, making it great for those who enjoy subtle touches of colour.
Nails Inc Plant Power Vegan Nail Polish, Time for a Reset
Buy it for £9 from Nails Inc.
Nail polishes aren’t always vegan – they can include ingredients like fish scales for shimmer and beetle blood for red pigment.
This collection is kinder to nails with its plant infused extracts and has just dropped for spring. We love this fresh coral tone.
A Weathered Penny, Moth
Buy for £16 from A Weathered Penny.
We love this independent brand that have a line of polishes inspired by the colours in our natural earth.
This muted shade gave full opacity in one coat – moths have never been such a style inspiration.
& Other Stories Nail Gloss, Endless Lilac
Buy it for £6 from & Other Stories.
The brand have just launched a new formula – nail gloss. Think of it like a lip gloss but for nails.
When we tested it against a regular polish we noticed it had much more shine and reflection on the finish.
Nailberry, Ring A Posie
Buy it for £15 from Nailberry.
Nailberry is a stylish nail brand with a curated range of colours focused on promoting nail health.
We love the rose gold shimmer in this shade, which catches the light and gleams.
Ciate Plant Pots, Snatch
Buy it for £10 from Ciaté.
This opaque tomato red is brand new and is made with up to 80% natural ingredients.
Some of the stars in the formula are bakuchiol, biotin and bamboo extract to help care for nails during wear.
SUQQU Nail Colour Polish, 130
Get it for £18 from Harrods.
We love this sunset orange tone from the luxury Japanese brand SUQQU for hotter days.
It’s limited edition and the blue shade from line has already sold out, so we’d say act fast if you like this one.
Essie ExprEssie Quick Dry Formula, Precious Cargo Go
Buy it for £7.99 from Boots.
Essie’s spring limited edition collection has already dropped in the US but won’t be coming here until April.
However, the new range will include a cactus colour that we think is fairly comparable to this shade in their quick dry line, only it’s paler.
Emolyne Gel Lacquer, Cairo
Buy it for £11 from Emolyne.
This independent brand is Black owned and considers the word ‘nude’ from the perspective of a variety of skin tones.
For every polish there’s a matching lipstick too, if coordination is your thing.
