Cardi B is her own champion as she shares adorable old tweet

Cardi B has shown us a lesson in how to be our own biggest fan as she unearthed a tweet from 2016 in which she outlined her goals for world domination.

Honestly, if you’re sitting there writing down your 2021 aims in your bullet journal, whack on some Cardi and let the inspiration hit.

The rapper, who burst into the scene in a big, big way following the release of her single Bodak Yellow in 2017, had already become a name after appearing on reality show Love and Hip Hop in 2015, but it was clear she wanted to go bigger and better.

And showing us just how far she had come, this week Cardi shared a tweet she’d dug up from five years ago, writing: ‘IDK where my music going to take me ,I just want people to say she puts out good tracks ..Respect the talent.’

Alongside the message, she wrote on Monday: ‘WOW 2016…..Claim it !!!’

Think it’s fair to say many, many people would say she puts out good tracks. Would WAP have taken over 2020 if she didn’t?

We love this little time capsule of a moment, which shows everyone just how far the performer had come from 2016 – posted just months after she’d released her first full-length project, mixtape Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 1.

Fans loved Cardi’s little blast from the past, as one chimed on social media: ‘And look at you now, sitting up there with the legends.’

Sharing an image of Cardi’s 2018 Grammy win for best rap album, another noted: ‘It got you here!’

Another follower mused, choked up by the sentiment: ‘This is so inspirational. Like you don’t even understand.’

WAP was arguably one of the biggest songs of the year, with Cardi storming the charts worund the world alongside Megan Thee Stallion.

Despite the furore surrounding the song, which stands for ‘wet a*s p**sy’, Cardi B and Megan found themselves owning the music charts, as WAP debuted at number one in the UK and on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US.

It became Cardi’s fourth number one single in the US, making her the female rapper with the most number one singles in the Hot 100 chart’s history

2016 Cardi was clearly already on her way to greatness, but we cannot wait to see what 2021 Cardi has up her sleeve.
