Federal Bureau of Investigation agents raided Jake Paul‘s home in Calabasas, California early Wednesday morning, and seriously — WTF is going on?!
It wasn’t immediately clear what exactly the agents were searching for at the 23-year-old YouTube superstar’s home, set in a swanky area northwest of Los Angeles, and it didn’t get better after feds spoke to the press.
The bureau was remarkably tight-lipped about their warrant for the Paul home in a statement to the media. Los Angeles news station ABC 7 reported that FBI officials weren’t able to comment on the search as it was part of an “active investigation,” with an official adding (below):
“The affidavit in support of the search warrant is sealed and we are, therefore, prohibited from commenting as to the nature of the investigation.”
Whatever they are investigating, it’s clear the feds mean business. TMZ has footage of the bureau’s departure from Paul’s home after their search, and our jaws dropped when we saw all the military-looking dudes and armored cars they brought out just to search the controversial vlogger’s pad:
What on earth could this investigation be about?! Reports are still very sparse; it’s not clear whether property was seized or anybody was arrested as a result of the search itself. Heck, we don’t even know if Jake is home right now, as he hasn’t posted to Twitter or Instagram yet this month…
Jake’s Crazy Summer!
Though it’s not clear whether this has anything to do with the FBI raid, the controversial video star has been in the news quite a bit recently thanks to his decision to throw a massive party at that same Calabasas house amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. His defense on the “lack of leadership” from politicians regarding pandemic response plans wasn’t very well-received by the public, though we also can’t imagine one out-of-control party could bring the feds knockin’, ya know?!
Earlier this summer, the Cleveland native was arrested after being on the premises of a mall in Scottsdale, Arizona that was being looted amid the massive Black Lives Matter protests that took place across the country. Jake denied participating in the looting, claiming he had simply been there to shoot footage and get content for his YouTube channel.
Jake’s next big move — well, at least before the FBI raid happened this morning — is supposed to be a boxing match next month against former NBA star Nate Robinson.
Now, though, we’ll wait and see what the fallout may be from today’s law enforcement activities at the YouTuber’s house, as we continue to gather details about their exact “active investigation” in the first place…
