Gemma Collins filmed herself going to extreme lengths to sooth her “painful knees” as she stepped into a cryochamber set at -196 degrees on Wednesday morning.
The 41 year old appeared in an eager mood as she got up at 7am to begin the procedure at Ice Health Cryotherapy in London, which saw her enclosed in a tube-shaped casing attached to a machine controlling the temperature, with her head poking out the top.
The cryochamber is a form of therapy designed to keep the body at a low temperature in order to reduce muscle pain, sprains and swelling.
Discussing why she was trying the cryochamber Gemma said: “I am in the cryochamber yet again to stimulate everything. I’ve been so busy and its just getting everything going again and keeping on top of things. The benefits are endless. So, let’s go. Let’s do this.”
The professional supervising the procedure went on to to add in the background of the video that the cryochamber burns calories and releases endorphins while bringing better sleep, more energy and a general feel-good factor, much like a “body reset”.
A later clip posted by Gemma to her Instagram Stories showed her bouncing up and down on the spot during the shock therapy as she winced at the freezing sub-zero temperatures she was in.
“It does feel good actually,” the TOWIE star insisted.
“I’ve really got pain in my knees at then minute so it’s taking out the inflammation, boosting my metabolism, energy, and it helps you sleep and it boosts happy hormones in you.”
Sounding positive about the therapy, Gemma added: “It is cold though, but I can do this.”
Her wild cryochamber practice comes after she recently enjoyed a sun-soaked holiday in Dubai at the luxury Palazzo Versace Hotel.
Gemma recently posted a photo of herself grinning by a swimming pool at the resort as she rocked a bright pink swimsuit and oversized sunglasses with the caption: "Girls just wanna have SUN. I will be shining brightly and unapologetically for the foreseeable future".
Before the star went away, she opted for another beauty process in the form of a facial at Orocum Clinic in London, which she documented herself having on Instagram Stories.
"So important to have a good hydration facial for this time of year," Gemma captioned at the time. "Cleans and closes pores and tighten the skin".
