Alex Beresford shared his frustration with the decision by Prime Minister Boris Johnson to remove quarantine from Britons travelling to amber list countries and predicted it would result in another lockdown.
The Good Morning Britain weather presenter shared his reaction to the latest news from the government after a plan was laid out to lift all remaining coronavirus restrictions this month.
But the TV star feared that while many would be rejoicing at the news – which is due to be confirmed on July 12 – it could lead to another surge of COVID-19 cases and eventually full lockdown.
Alex, 40, tweeted: “No quarantine from an amber list country after 19th July.
“Is Lockdown 4.0 about to be commissioned?”
The weather reporter then guessed a return to the current restrictions, which still have a hold on industries such as nightclubs and weddings, would occur in late autumn.
“Due for early release this November,” Alex added.
In response to Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley’s debate on Good Morning Britain Tuesday morning, Alex then weighed in further.

“With travel to Amber list countries not requiring quarantine for double jabbed people, it is possible someone could bring in a new variant,” he suggested.
“The vaccine doesn’t protect you from catching the virus, it reduces your chances of hospitalisation. You could still pass it on…”
The presenter went on to clarify that his worry is if more variants keep appearing, the UK will be even more devastated to lose the freedoms they’ve only just managed to get back.
In response to one of his followers, Alex explained: “But if the vaccine doesn’t protect from a new variant we could see ourselves in another lockdown.
“I’m super excited that our country is getting back to normal in the coming days!” the host insisted.
“I just don’t want to lose that ‘freedom’ because we didn’t protect our borders.”
