Former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has addressed the Duchess of Sussex among other environmentalists including Greta Thunberg who have passionately championed climate. The Grand Tour host fumed that such “important people” have only made “matters worse”.
The 60-year-old car enthusiast explained that while Britons should be concerned about saving the planet, it appears we are “fighting against the tide”.
The small-screen star admitted it is difficult to focus on climate change when people are constantly being “told about other things which are apparently even more important?”
The former Top Gear host also took aim at Meghan who has been vocal about the climate crisis in recent months.
Jeremy penned: “If you have been vaguely awake for the past 30 years, you’ll have heard all sorts of serious people saying the world’s climate is changing.
“They’ve told us endlessly the Arctic ice cap is melting, islands in the South Pacific are drowning and the rainy season in South East Asia is no longer reliable.”
“It all seemed so far away and unimportant.”
He continued: “To make matters worse, some of the serious people were seriously annoying.
“Whenever Greta Thunberg popped up on television, I was overcome with the urgent need to buy another patio heater.”
Jeremy added in his column to The Sun: “When Meghan Markle told me to leave the car at home, I wanted to shoot a polar bear in the middle of its face.”
The Grand Tour host went on to explain that we had the “wettest autumn for 50 years”.
He commented that by April, the sun had come out and stayed for months.
“Suddenly, we could all see for ourselves the weather is changing. But what exactly are we supposed to do about it?” Jeremy quizzed.

He added: “Build a nuclear power station at the bottom of the garden? Invent cold fusion? Move to a cave?
“It all seems impossible — because fighting the next weather system is like fighting the tide.”
Earlier this year, Meghan praised the younger generation for their work against climate change.
The Duchess of Sussex called on young women across the world to “keep pushing” during an impassioned speech on gender equality as she took part in the Girl Up leadership conference held in July.
She also spoke candidly about other world issues including climate change.
Meanwhile, Jeremy has previously hit out at climate change activists including Greta.
Speaking on Australian chat show Sunrise, the television presenter did not hold back as he said the teenager should be in school.
Jeremy fumed: “She’s mad and she’s dangerous and she’s causing young children sleepless nights with her idiocy.
“No, I think she needs to go back to school and shut up.”
