Death In Paradise cast member Josephine Jobert has reprised her role as DS Florence Cassell for the tenth-anniversary special. It comes as the actress waved goodbye to the island of Saint Marie at the end of series eight.
The 35-year-old has now opened up about her decision to quit the series in 2019 and admitted she had been “struggling a little bit”.
It comes as the actress revealed she was unsure about returning to the Death In Paradise cast and almost turned down the offer.
Josephine was “surprised” to receive the call about reprising her role but added there was “no pressure”.
“At first, I wasn’t sure about going back to do it, just because I’d left, I’d said goodbye, so there was no reason for me to come back,” she explained.
Thankfully, the BBC star didn’t regret taking the opportunity to return to the murder mystery series, because she “missed Florence”.
Josephine said: “I didn’t know what happened to her after she left, after she had lost her fiancé. So I was happy to know what happened.”
Addressing her reasons for leaving the drama, she explained: “I had all my time on the show with my five years. We were in Guadeloupe for five months.
“It’s great, but it’s quite long, and being away from everything and friends and family, I was struggling a bit.”
The TV detective explained there was no “dramatic” reason for quitting the series but was admitted it was a “personal decision”.
The French-born actress wanted to explore other roles and acting opportunities.
“I thought I gave everything I could to Florence and I did everything I could to tell her story,” Josephine continued to HELLO!
“That’s the reason why, it was dramatic. Nothing went wrong with the show, it was just a personal decision to move on.”

Josephine joined the cast of Death In Paradise in 2015, taking on the female leading role.
She left the programme back four years later, citing “personal and professional reasons” as her decision to leave.
In a tweet, she wrote: “Just a message to just say thank you and goodbye.
“For those who watched episode six you now know, I’m leaving Death in Paradise.
“I quit the show for personal and professional reasons – nothing dramatic I swear!
“Everything is fine, it’s just that I’ve been working on Death in Paradise for five years… I loved every minute of it.”
Meanwhile, Ben Miller (who played DI Richard Poole) and Sara Martins (who played DS Camille Bordey) returned to Death In Paradise for cameo appearances in celebration of its decade on-screen.
Death in Paradise continues tomorrow on BBC One at 9pm.
