BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker, 44, discussed his 52-year-old co-star Louise Minchin’s reaction to the report, which was based on research by “boffins”. His post also sparked a mixed reaction from many of his Instagram followers. The headline read: “Brew what? Milk first for perfect cuppa, says boffins.”

The article stated that pouring milk in first on a tea bag makes the ideal cup of tea, “research proved”.

Dan commented: “Louise is not best pleased with this news. Are you a milk first person?”

One of his followers wrote: “No! Milk second, always! (Used to be a first).”

A second added: “Nope nope nope nope!”

“Always milk first,” a third commented.

Dan also shared a poll on his Instagram Story, which showed 78 per cent of people were in favour of milk going in last.

The BBC Breakfast presenters also discussed the topic on air today.

Dan said “as long as it’s hot and wet, that’s fine with me”.

Louise appeared stunned by his comment and turned to the camera giving an unimpressed look.

“Are you disgusted?” he remarked, laughing as his co-star remained speechless.

Also this morning, the presenters shared pictures of their unkempt hair ahead of salons reopening.
