Naga Munchetty, 46, was hosting her BBC Radio 5 Live show when a mother of three called in and relayed her daughters’ love of the BBC host during her Strictly Come Dancing stint. The BBC Breakfast host laughed off the compliment and proclaimed “it was a long time” since she had appeared in the ballroom competition.
It was a long time ago!
Naga began her show by inviting radio listeners to call in and discuss the relationships they have with their grandparents.
She said: “I’ve been asking you to get in touch in light of the touching tributes by Prince William and Prince Harry to the Duke Of Edinburgh, who of course passed away.
“They spoke about how he shaped their lives and how he had touched them.
“So I asked you to get in touch with your stories,” she added.
The radio host then explained she had a caller named Sadie on the line who wanted to speak on behalf of her three daughters.
Naga continued: “I can now talk to Sadie, who is going to explain the relationship her daughters have with their grandfather, Tony, Sadie’s dad.
“Sadie, morning to you.”
Sadie responded happily: “Morning Naga, how are you?”
Naga replied: “I am really well and please say thank you to Laila, your daughter, who texted in.
“I know she’s a little bit shy to get on the phone, perhaps, so you have taken up the job of it.
“So how many daughters do you have? You have got Laila,” she asked.
Sadie explained she had two teenage daughters and one younger daughter.

“I’ve got Laila, who is 15, I’ve got Maddie who is 13, and Jemima who is nine,” she answered.
Naga queried: “OK are they all there with you?”
Sadie continued: “They are, and they are excited because they watched you on Strictly, Naga.”
Stunned by the revelation, Naga remarked: “It was a long time ago, it was a long time ago!”
The BBC presenter then attempted to get the conversation back on topic as she asked Sadie about Tony.
Naga said: “So right Laila, Maddie, and Jemima. I heard them all in the background, hello. Let’s talk about grandad Tony.
Sadie divulged: “Well a lovely dad and just a wonderful grandad. He and my mum have looked after our girls while we have been working, all their lives.
“So they have just got such a great relationship with each other, you know.”
Naga appeared on Strictly five years ago alongside ballroom professional Pasha Kovalev, and the pair finished the contest in 12th place.
