Piers Morgan became the subject of a joke on Twitter posted by his son this week, as Stanley Morgan compared his father to the 'egomaniac' character of Logan Roy in television show Succession.

Tweeting to his 13,000 followers, Stanley shared his thoughts about the hit comedy-drama Succession, which centres around the dysfunctional Roy family, headed up by billionaire Logan Roy (brilliantly played by Brian Cox).

Stanley wrote on Twitter: "Just finished series 1 of Succession – thank god I watched it otherwise I’d never have known what it’s like to live as the child of a overly opinionated, egomaniac who loves the sound of his own voice…"

Appearing to take the comparison well, 56-year-old Piers retweeted his son's comment to his own 7.9 million followers.

It's not the first time Piers has been in the news recently due to one of his sons' comments, with Piers' eldest child Spencer, 28, seeming to back up his dad over comments he made about gymnast Simone Biles.

The joke comes after the presenter host shared a hilariously blunt text he received from ITV presenter Holly Willoughby after he messaged her to say the pair should take over responsibility for presenting Good Morning Britain.

Piers infamously left the show earlier this year and it has since suffered a decline in ratings.

After a magazine suggested Holly and Piers should take over hosting duties together, Piers shared a message exchange he had with ITV darling Holly, 40.

Piers, 56, revealed his and Holly’s hilariously awkward exchange in his Daily Mail column.

The presenter wrote: "I wouldn’t hold your breath for this particular TV dream team. ‘I want the biggest dressing room,’ I texted Ms Willoughby."

To which Piers claimed that she hilariously fired back with: "'You can have it,' she replied. 'I won’t be there.'"

The mum-of-three is already part of a dream team duo with close friend and This Morning co-presenter Phillip Schofield.

The pair have been a regular fixture on the popular show and NTA winner for a whopping 14 years running.

Holly and Phil are currently taking a much-deserved six-week break from the show for the summer holidays, which they do every year.
