Rebel Wilson, who has been vocal about her health journey over the past year and a half, has a difficult update to share with fans.
“I got some bad news today and didn’t have anyone to share it with…but I guess I gotta tell someone,” the actress wrote in an Instagram post Sunday. “To all the women out there struggling with fertility, I feel ya.”
Wilson, 41, shared the news alongside a somber photo of herself, dressed casually in a zip-up hoodie and dark pants, walking along the beach at sunset. She received an outpouring of support from fans and fellow stars in the comments, including actress Jillian Bell and comedian Chelsea Peretti.
The actress didn’t share specifics, but added: “The universe works in mysterious ways and sometimes it all doesn’t make sense…but I hope there’s light about to shine through all the dark clouds.”
USA TODAY has reached out to Wilson’s representative for further comment.

Wilson, who vowed last year to make 2020 her “year of health,” has been open about her weight loss journey as well as her struggles with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and her decision last year to freeze her eggs.
“I was thinking about fertility and having good quality eggs in the bank, so I was like, ‘OK, I’m going to do this, I’m going to get healthy,” Wilson said in an Instagram live video in December 2019.
She added: “As all good career women out there should know, if that’s something that interests you, it’s a pretty good time to do it. Getting to 40s is kind of even leaving it a little too late. It’s better to do it a bit earlier if you can.”
Last November, Wilson revealed her struggles with PCOS, a condition that can cause irregular periods, weight gain, thinning hair and infertility, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine.
“I’ve been overweight for about 20 years. I started gaining weight when I was about 20. I had something called PCOS—polycystic ovarian syndrome—and I gained weight rapidly,” Wilson told E! News. “It’s just a hormone imbalance and you gain a lot of weight usually and that’s how it manifested in me. Sometimes, I feel sad, but then at the same time, I worked my body to my advantage. I like being all sizes. It’s just now turning 40, I am more health conscious and thinking of starting a family.”
