Olympic Gold medalist Sam Quek is expecting a baby with her husband Tom Mairs. The 32-year-old sports star revealed today she is pregnant with a baby girl, who is due in February next year.
I’ve stopped myself getting too excited, which is quite sad
The couple, who have been married for two years, delayed sharing their happy news as they suffered heartache earlier in the year.
In January, Sam miscarried at 10 weeks.
The couple have opened up about their devastating loss in order to raise awareness for baby loss and to help others facing similar heartache.
During an interview with Ok! Magazine, Sam, who took part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! back in 2016, said she stopped herself getting excited about the news following their earlier heartbreak.
Asked whether she found it hard to keep the news a secret, she said: “It’s a strange one. Obviously it’s the happiest moment of our lives so far, but what happened in January took a toll on both of us and we weren’t able to speak about it properly.
“This second pregnancy I’ve stopped myself getting too excited, which is quite sad.
“But it made it easier to keep quiet because in the back of your head, you think, ‘What if?’.”
Now that she is able to reveal her baby news to the world, Sam said she is feeling “really, really excited”.
“It’s been quite surreal because we’ve kept it so private.
“So being able to talk about it on this shoot, it now feels real. I’m really, really excited and we can’t wait,” she told the publication.
