Tom Fletcher, 36, has told his fans during an appearance on BBC’s The One Show that during the birth of his son Buddy, he and his wife, Giovanna Fletcher, 36, watched Michael McIntyre. Tom has been married to Giovanna since 2012.

Yes, we were watching you, Michael.

Tom was on The One Show this evening with his Strictly partner Amy Dowden to talk about all things Strictly and his new book.

As soon as the show began, host Ronan Keating asked Tom about Michael.

He said: “Tom, is it true that your wife was in labour and whilst she was in labour she was watching Michael McIntyre?”

Tom hastily replied: “Yes, we were watching you, Michael.

“Thank you very much, you made the labour experience a lot funnier.”

Michael, appearing via video link, looked very shocked.

He said: “That’s amazing!

“My wife was in exactly the same situation when she gave birth to our children!”

Sam Quek asked Michael: “Is that the strangest use of your show that you’ve ever heard?”

The comedian surprisingly said that this was not the weirdest thing he has heard about his show.

He said: “A few people have gone into labour whilst watching my show.

“I say people, obviously this is women. A few women have gone into labour at my shows and been rushed to hospital.”

Michael joked: “So basically if your pregnancy is late and you need an induced labour come and see me live.”

Tom added: “Buddy was born very quickly actually, very quick labour.

“So, thank you. From my wife, actually, all I did was watch you and laugh!”

Tom has three children named Buzz, Buddy and Max.

The McFly singer made his triumphant return to Strictly on Saturday night.

Tom and Amy had been off for 10 days after they both tested positive for Covid.

When they got back to dancing on Strictly at the weekend, they impressed the judges with their movie week performance.

Strictly Come Dancing continues at 7pm on Saturday on BBC One.
