First released in 2007, Nike Sportswear‘s Air Foamposite One “Anthracite” is a monochromatic cold weather classic, and now it’s set to come back for the fall and winter of 2020. Marking the first ever re-release of the “Anthracite,” this new iteration maintains all the murky details and striking construction of its original counterpart, making for one of the year’s most notable Foamposite releases.
Designer Eric Avar — the man responsible for many of Kobe Bryant‘s most notable Nike Basketball silhouettes — drew inspiration from beetle shells for the Foamposite’s ultra-durable molded upper, here dressed entirely in black. Where most Foams’ molded casing features a high gloss look, the “Anthracite” opts for a flat matte shade, one that’s accented further by black nubuck eyestays plus black mesh throats, collars and tongues.
Heel and tongue tabs alike aid with entry/removal and branding is kept to a minimum, only appearing via a small Nike Swoosh on the lateral forefoot plus Penny Hardaway‘s One Cent graphics on tongues, heels and insoles alike. Textured black carbon fiber midfoot plates and black outsoles round off the look.
The Nike Air Foamposite One “Anthracite” will release via the Nike webstore and retailers like Foot Locker on October 15. The MSRP is set at $230 USD.
