Royal Family news – Harry & Meghan 'DIDN'T ask Queen's permission for Lilibet's name but told her instead, insider says

THE Queen was "not asked but informed" by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle that they were naming their baby Lilibet, a royal expert says.

Gyles Brandreth joined a heated debate on Good Morning Britain after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex hit back at a Palace source who claimed they didn't ask Her Majesty permission to use her childhood nickname.

GMB host Susanna Reid asked Gyles: "Why are they both now rowing over the name of the baby?"

The author of Philip: The Final Portrait replied: "This should be a storm in a teacup. The dispute is this.

"Was the Queen asked by Harry and Meghan whether they could call their child Lilibet or was she told? Either way she obviously agreed because she is a decent and loving grandmother.

"The Palace seem to be saying she was told, Harry and Meghan's spokesperson seems to be saying she was asked.

Lilibet’s life will be very different to other Royal children thanks to her parents’ decision to move to the US and step back from the Monarchy.

    LILI’S LIFE

Meghan Markle hinted how she will raise her new daughter Lilibet Diana years before welcoming the tot.

The Duchess of Sussex, 39, shared a powerful poem on her old Instagram page before being a royal about vowing to never call her daughter “beautiful”.

The poem, written by African-American poet Nayyirah Waheed, speaks to a daughter and says it is not her beauty that will guide her through life but her self-confidence.

It says that “knowing your worth” as a person “can save your life.”

The poem states that “every being is born beautiful” and “beauty is a given”, but raising someone on beauty alone will “starve” them and make them “raw” and “weak”.

The poem first appeared in Nayyirah’s 2013 collection Salt, but Meghan shared it with followers in 2017; the year before she married Prince Harry.

INSIDE THE SANTA BARBARA HOSPIATL MEGHAN GAVE BIRTH

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed their daughter Lilibet to the world at a Santa Barbara hospital where it costs a staggering £20,000 to give birth.

Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born just ten minutes from the couple's mansion at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital on June 4.

The not-for-profit hospital was founded in 1888 by a group of 50 women from the area who "recognised it was time for the growing community to have a hospital."

It's believed that the Duke and Duchess' pal and neighbour Katy Perry gave birth to her daughter Daisy at the same hospital last August.

The hospital says it has a staff of more than 600 physicians and the hospital welcomes 2,400 babies every year.

“However, I can just say that she has very floral tastes, which may become evident if we look at the chocolates a little bit later… but maybe we should start with our two most popular chocolates, which are rose and violet creams. I never said a word, never said a word.”

Such a personal piece is rarely worn by The Queen, with the 95-year-old monarch last donning the beautiful brooch in 2019 for a church service held in Sandringham.
