Wear a pair of fresh white socks and somehow, they’ll end up muddy and marked.
Well, you won’t need to tempt fate anymore with a particular pair from surf brand Quiksilver, which have been mocked for looking dirty fresh out the packet.
At £14, the luxe socks aren’t a cheap buy either – so why do they look grubby when new?
It’s due to an unfortunate tie-dye job.
The colours used are white and beige, which when in a tie-dye style, resemble faint mud stains.
Naturally, shoppers have mocked the socks, with one person writing: ‘If only I knew it was a “thing”. I wouldn’t have thrown so many mud stained white socks out.’
Others hopped on the joke too, suggesting they wouldn’t need to buy a pair of socks like that because they already owned them.
One person said: ‘Why did anyone think this was a good idea? They just look dirty.’
Another added: ‘Waste of money. Could just borrow any of my daughter’s socks.’
The socks, which are sold on ASOS, are unlikely to sellout any time soon given the online mockery that’s been made of them.
Someone quipped: ‘Only £14 to look like you just took the bins out with no shoes on.’
And another joked: ‘That laundry day look that makes the girls go wild.’
The only reference on ASOS made to the style is that they’re tie-dye, though it’s easy to fail to recognise this, seeing them as grubby, at a quick glance.
These are a pair of white socks that will look dirty to many eyes, even when fresh out the washing machine.
