Reprising his role as Mufasa, James Earl Jones narrates inthis teaser while one of the film’s classic songs plays in the background. DonaldGlover (a.k.a. Childish Gambino), who plays Simba, can be heard harmonizingwith Beyoncé’sNala as they sing Can You Feel the Love Tonight. The signature song waspart of the original 1994 movie and was composed by Elton John and Tim Rice.

Beyoncé shared the clip on her YouTube channel today along withDisney, getting fans excited about what she’ll be bringing to the film’s soundtrack. As ENews! stated, June 24 marks the 25th anniversary of the movie sothis new one is kind of a big deal.

How fans reacted to the trailer

As expected, both the Beyhive and longtimefans of The Lion King are freaking out. The teaser was first releasedas a TV ad that aired in an international market but was leaked on social mediawhere it spread—until Disney squashed it. Hearing Beyoncé and Donald Glover blendtogether is adding to the hype for the movie, and maybe even quelling somedoubts from naysayers who aren’t on board with a remake.

Talk show hosts and others who caught wind of the teaserwere quick to make comparisons between the 2019 version and the original. Noteveryone is feeling the new one, but we’ll have to see how this pans out whenthe movie actually comes out.

Though the film’s release is weeks away, nostalgia is already kicking in for those who grew up watching the ‘90s classic. For many, it was a part of their childhood and their children’s childhoods as well. At the same time, it could wind up becoming a favorite among old fans and new.

What fans can expect with the music

Jon Favreau’s new take will include the work of Sir Elton John and Tim Rice, and they both were enlisted to create music for this live-action version. Last year, the 72-year-old Rocket Man spoke to The Sun and confirmed he was looking forward to it:

“They need to have a new end credits song. There’s going to be four of our songs in the film, from the original: ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’, ‘Hakuna Matata’, ‘I Just Can’t Wait To Be King’ and ‘Circle of Life.’
And then there will be an end, closing song, and we’ve been speaking to Beyoncé’s people and hopefully Tim and I and her can cook up something.
That’s going out in 2019 as well. And it will be great to work with her. So we will see.”

That’s four songs from the 1994 version that you can rely on hearing, but most likely with new voices.

Seth Rogen is set to play Pumbaa while Billy Eicher is taking onthe role of Timon, so they’ll have their own special duets for Hakuna Matataand The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

Glover is also a musical artist in his own right, but there is no official word on whether the actor has any plans to contribute original music to the film, including for the big end-credits number. Still, the prospect of hearing Beyoncé’s vocals is enough of a sell for this family film.
