Fiona Wade relationships: How the Emmerdale star met husband Simon and a look inside their incredible wedding

Emmerdale actress Fiona Wade and her husband Simon Cotton give us all the feels while sharing romantic snaps on their respective Instagram channels, but how did their relationship begin?

The pair, who shared their magical wedding day with OK! magazine, first got together back in 2018 and the rest is history.

How did Fiona Wade meet Simon?

Actress Fiona, 41, first met actor Simon during his brief stint on Emmerdale, the soap which Fiona is best known for.

Simon was playing a small role as Home Farm client Hugh Bryant.

However, despite confirming their relationship the pair chose not to move in together straight away.

As a result of Fiona’s Bahá’í religion the couple had to wait until they were married before playing house, with Fiona telling us at the time: “Simon is on tour until February so we’re still deciding where we’re going to live and then we’ll buy somewhere.”

Fiona Wade shared the intimate details of her perfect proposal.

The star announced her engagement in a romantic Instagram post at the beginning of 2019, with the Priya Sharma actress' exciting news coming just six months after the couple confirmed their relationship.

Speaking exclusively to OK! magazine, the pair revealed that Simon got down on one knee at her family home in Hertfordshire – the place she feels closest to her father, who passed away 15 years ago.

“The proposal was perfect,” Fiona revealed. “I was in floods of tears. It’s the home I grew up in and I still live there with my mum when I’m not filming. It’s the most special place in the world to me.”

Simon continued: “In the Bahá’í religion it’s important to ask permission from both parents.

“I asked her mum, who was very excited and I also went to visit her dad’s grave to ask him, too.”

The incredible Bahá’í Faith ceremony at the Euridge Manor and Orangery in The Cotswolds was captured by OK! magazine.

The 41 year old actress opted for tradition as she wed Simon in a white gown, which she partnered with Jimmy Choo shoes.

The stunning strapless dress was designed by Berta which she paired with a dramatic veil and Simon told us: "Fi looked absolutely mesmerising."

Speaking exclusively to us about her gown, Fiona said: "It's a Berta gown from The Wedding Club.

"It was the first dress I tried on. I picked all the ones I liked and the lady said: 'Try this one.' I thought, 'Okay, I'll get this out the way,' and I fell in love with it straight away."

The couple chose their dreamy venue after Fiona perused bridal magazines.

She explained: “I bought lots of bridal magazines and I found this incredible place. My heart started beating really fast.

"We went to view it in February and from the moment we arrived we knew."

Fiona walked down the aisle with her mum Tessie after the 'daddy's girl' lost her father Colin to oesophageal cancer.

She told us: "I was so emotional. When I was getting ready, me, my mum and best friend Kirsty had a bit of a cry.

"You always dream of that moment and you hope your dad is going to walk you down the aisle, and in the months approaching the wedding I was more emotional about my dad.

"I’ve had my moments thinking about that and crying, but I was with my mum and it was really special.

Speaking about the moment he saw his bride walk down the aisle, Simon told us: "I felt so emotional when she walked down the aisle. I had tunnel vision and it will be etched in my memory. Being married feels better than I ever imagined."

After their stunning wedding, Simon and Fiona whizzed off an amazing honeymoon and enjoyed the hot temperatures in St Lucia

The adorable couple share the occasional glimpse into their relationship and recently Fiona shared a look at her adorable date day with her hubby.

The star posted a short video of herself and Simon sat in a field and he leans in to kiss her neck.

“Date day with my hubby,” Fiona wrote, followed by a sun emoji and she looked as stunning as ever in a floaty white dress while lapping up the sun.

We also got a glimpse into their home life back in May, as Fiona shared a snap of herself and Simon sat their garden table while celebrating his birthday.

In the shots, we catch a glimpse at the pair’s garden, featuring plants galore and a large wooden table scattered with cards and gifts for the birthday boy.

In the three images, Simon and Fiona look as loved up as ever, sharing kisses and smiling candidly at one another.
