SUMMER drinks just got a whole lot sunnier as Greene King is giving away free pints this weekend.
The pub chain is handing out pints of its own pale ale brew, Ice Breaker, to celebrate reopening after lockdown.
Every customer will be able to grab the drink free of charge on Friday, which also coincides with the start of the rescheduled Euros football tournament.
Punters will be able to redeem their free pint in more than 1,000 participating Greene King pubs in England, Wales and Northern reland.
You don’t need to register for the app or find a voucher to get the deal.
All you have to do is to say: “Your home of pub sport” to the bar staff and they will serve you a pint of Ice Breaker.
What rules are currently in place at the pub?
THE rules Brits need to stick to while at their local are more relaxed compared to when pubs were last open – but some restrictions will remain in place.
The 10pm curfew has been scrapped, and punters won't have to buy a scotch egg or any other food to get served alcohol.
However, social distancing will remain in place at least until autumn, with measures set to be reconsidered in the summer when more people are vaccinated.
Boozers will have to stick to the “rule of six” limits indoors, while abiding to two-metre distancing from others.
Pub-goers aged 16 and over have to check in to NHS Test and Trace or provide their contact details to staff.
Customers must also order, eat and drink while seated at a table and if they head to the toilet or elsewhere, then face masks must be worn, unless exempt.
This is expected to stay all summer as a compromise for the early reopening.
Note that you will need to say this passphrase to redeem the free bevvy.
If you don’t fancy an alcoholic drink, you can get the soft drink alternative of a standard Coke or Coke Zero.
The offer will be available during the individual pubs' serving hours on Friday – or until stock runs out.
Customers can also only get one free pint each and it cannot be combined with another promotion or discount.
You also cannot redeem cash instead of the free drink.
Also be aware that there are more than 3,000 Greene King pubs in the country so only about a third of them will be giving away the free beers.
You should therefore check your nearest branch is participating in theoffer before you go.
You can look up exactly which pubs near you are taking part by typing in your postcode in the Euro 2021 page on the Greene King website.
All Greene King pubs are still operating a table-only service inline with the current COVID measures.
So the pub chain recommends you book a table so you don’t miss out on the free drink.
Again, you can do this through the Green King website or by looking up the individual local’s number and booking over the phone.
Chris Conchie, head of sport at Greene King, said: “With an exciting summer of sport in front of us, we can’t wait to welcome our customers back to our pubs to enjoy watching sport with us once again.
“We’ve all been forced to watch sport from home but we know our pubs are your home away from home when it comes to sport!
“We want to celebrate by giving each and every one of our customers a free pint of Ice Breaker. The ultimate, unfiltered, refreshing pale ale – bursting with fruity hop characters. We’re looking forward to seeing you all soon!”

For those planning on summer drinks at home, Argos is selling a firepit that’s £30 cheaper than Aldi.
We’ve also tested curries from takeaway apps to see which one truly delivers.
