Meghan Markle's Father Criticizes His Daughter and Prince Harry for 'Whining and Complaining' During Pandemic

It’s no secret that Meghan Markle and her father, Thomas Markle, have a complicated relationship. It seems the upcoming book about Meghan and Prince Harry’s departure, Finding Freedom, is stirring up more trouble among the father and daughter.

‘Finding Freedom’ details Meghan Markle’s drama with her father, Thomas

In addition to detailing Meghan and Harry’s decision to leave the royal life behind, the book reportedly also goes into the drama that surrounded Thomas and Meghan and Harry’s wedding. Like when he staged paparazzi photos of himself prior to the big day.

Finding Freedom states that Meghan hasn’t spoken to her father since her wedding, reports The Sun. According to the book, Thomas was supposed to walk his daughter down the aisle until it came out that he’d posed for and sold the photos. Even so, Meghan tried to arrange for her father to be present at the wedding. But the book claims he refused to make the trip.

Later, Thomas said the stress of dealing with the press caused him to have a heart attack.

“If it wasn’t for Harry, Doria and her friends, Meghan herself says she wouldn’t have mentally got through it,” claims Finding Freedom, as reported by The Sun.

Thomas Markle slams Meghan and Harry for ‘whining’ and poor timing

Meghan and Harry have reportedly denied giving interviews to Finding Freedom authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand or being involved with the book in any way. Still, Meghan’s father is criticizing the couple for the timing of the book. He thinks it shouldn’t be coming out in the midst of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment. We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages. This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity. We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties. Until then, please accept our deepest thanks for your continued support.” – The Duke and Duchess of Sussex For more information, please visit (link in bio) Image © PA

“This is the worst time in the world for them to be whining and complaining about anything — because people everywhere are suffering due to the coronavirus pandemic,” he told The Sun.

“I love my daughter but I really don’t appreciate what she’s become right now,” he added.

Meghan and Harry are still working out their life in Los Angeles

Meghan and Harry currently reside in the Hollywood Hills with their son Archie. But just because they’re not royals anymore doesn’t mean they’re not still getting swarmed by paparazzi. Some photographers have even attempted to get shots of Archie by attaching cameras to helicopters or by using drones. So the former royals are suing.

“This action arises out of the relentless and quite frankly shocking efforts of the tabloid media to profit from the serial intrusions on the privacy of a 14-month-old child in his own home,” the suit reads, “and the desire and responsibility of any parent to do what is necessary to protect their children from this manufactured feeding frenzy.”
