Grout is one of those annoying parts of the house that feels impossible to clean.
No matter how much you scrub, those bits between the tiles seem to hold on to every bit of grime.
That’s why a decent grout cleaner is key to saving you some elbow grease during your New Year cleans.
One woman on the Australian group Mums Who Clean on Facebook recommended her hero product for cleaning between tiles, saying: ‘Wow! I have to say, the mum who recommended this product has made me the happiest mum yet.
‘I’ve gone from black grout to white! So cheap and from Bunnings, definitely recommend.’
She shared a picture of the Long Life Grout Cleaner from the supermarket, which retails for $22 (£12.35) for two litres, while a 750ml spray bottle is $10 (£5.65).
The cleaner promises to ‘whiten and brighten’ with ‘easy application’.
Hundreds chimed into the post saying it was the ‘absolute bomb’. One person wrote: ‘Been using this stuff for years. Best one still on the market,’ while another said, ‘I love this product. Brought the grout up like new in my bathroom.’
Here in the UK, similar items include the HG intensive cleaner and this product from LPT.
Both of these contain strong acids, cutting through caked-on grime in no time.
With a stiff grout brush, give your grout a good scrub after spraying your cleaner, then wipe or rinse as directed.
Given that many of these cleaners include acids or bleach, you should always keep your room ventilated and never mix products.
Also, always try cleaning agents out first in an unseen area, just to make sure they’re safe for your specific tiles.
