Is it possible to digitally flash someone?
Post Malone will soon find out. The boob-brained rapper will stream his upcoming Raleigh, NC, concert in virtual reality, he said Thursday. Fans can tune in Oct. 17 at 11 p.m. ET using an “events” app called Oculus Venues which pairs with an Oculus Quest or Oculus Go headset.
The show is part of Malone’s tour for his third album, “Hollywood’s Bleeding.” Supersphere, a Los Angeles-based “immersive content” startup will be broadcasting the event.
He joins singer Billie Eilish and the NBA in offering a VR streaming option to fans.
“The broadcast will allow viewers to take their seats inside Raleigh’s PNC Arena to watch Post Malone perform live in an immersive 180-degree VR concert experience, only in Oculus Venues,” says a press release.
“When putting together this tour, I wanted to make sure I was giving my fans something new and crazy with this new production and show,” Malone tells Variety. “Working with Oculus on this VR broadcast gives fans at home a chance to sit front row with me during my North Carolina show, just like you’re in the arena.”
Other innovative uses for VR technology include recording porn, easing labor pain and playing tennis.
