Thank your child’s teacher this Christmas with a gift that won’t break the bank — plus win £50,000 in our raffle – The Sun

KEEN to thank your little one’s teacher this Christmas with a small gift?

Some schools have set a price limit on prezzies in recent years after parents got carried away with their spending. Here are a few ideas that deserve full marks for thoughtfulness but will not break the bank.

NICE SUPPLIES: A handy present that teachers will thank you for is a stocking full of school supplies. Why not brighten up their desk with these coloured sticky notes, £5.79 for 1,000 sheets/ten pads at Amazon? These work out far cheaper than branded coloured Post-Its — which cost £9.49 for a pack of six pads of 90. You can also get a pack of three metallic Sharpie pens for £2.50, down from £4, at Wilko.

Saving: at least £3.70

FUDGE IT: If you fancy giving a “DIY” present, home-made fudge is perfect. You can make a large batch on the cheap and there will be enough to fill many stockings. Whip up a batch using whole milk, sugar, butter and vanilla extract, cut into squares and wrap in cellophane with ribbon. For a little something extra, you can give it with a 187ml bottle of wine for just £1.15 at B&M.

COFFEE TIME: Teachers will probably need a strong cup of coffee (or two) during the school day, so pick up Whittard’s Christmas Coffee Bauble, down from £7 to £4.90 at, which will add a festive feeling to their everyday drink. To make it a little more personal, you could buy a plain white mug that your children can decorate with permanent marker pens.

PLANT THE IDEA: If you do not fancy going the “home-made” route or you are only after a festive token gift, why not give a poinsettia?  The cheap and cheerful Christmas favourites are sure to brighten any desk. At Aldi, you can buy one for just £2.39, far cheaper than those sold at M&S for £26.
