  • CHELSEA chiefs want Danny Drinkwater’s wages paid in full by any club taking him on loan for the second half of the season.

Midfielder Drinkwater, 29, has gone back to Stamford Bridge after barely figuring at Burnley over the last few months.

Aston Villa have looked into a short-term deal for the former England international, while Turkish side Besiktas have also been linked.

But they will have to stump up his full £110,000-a-week wage if they are to take Drinkwater on loan.

Chelsea signed Drinkwater from Leicester in a £35million deal in 2017.

He played a crucial role in Claudio Ranieri’s midfield as he helped the Foxes to their stunning Premier League title win in 2015/16.

He then stayed for another season to play in the Champions League, where Leicester reached the quarter-finals.

But his Chelsea career never got off the ground – having played just five times so far.

  • CHELSEA defender Emerson is set to join Juventus either in the January or summer transfer window, according to Calcio Mercato.

The 25-year-old joined The Blues back in 2018 but has failed to ever truly establish himself as a first team regular.

He has made 27 Premier League appearances across three seasons in west London, scoring no goals.

And it is now being reported that Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri would 'welcome him with open arms' at the Italian champions.

It is likely the Serie A kings will wait until the summer to complete the transfer, but a loan deal in January with an obligation to buy is also something the club are looking at.

  • CHELSEA have made Lyon striker Moussa Dembele a January transfer targets as Frank Lampard looks to improve his attacking options, according to the Daily Express.

Dembele has scored ten times in 18 Ligue 1 appearances so far this season and has previously impressed on UK shores with Celtic.

He netted 51 times in 94 games for the Glasgow-based outfit and has continued that form in France where he is now seen as a hot commodity.

According to Sky Sports, Lampard has likened the forward to his former teammate Didier Drogba and is therefore willing to pay 'big money' for the star.

  • CHELSEA could change their approaches and target Gabriel Barbosa – otherwise known as Gabigol.

The Brazilian forward helped Flamengo to the Brasileiro and Copa Libertadores double, after enduring a difficult spell at Inter Milan.

Globo report that the Blues are interested in the 23-year-old, after he hinted he would not be remaining in his homeland.

Gabigol wrote on Twitter: “Thank you for your love.”

Many Flamengo fans interpreted this as being a farewell message, with the Brazilian set to return to Inter Milan after his loan spell – but could be on the move again with Chelsea and West Ham interested.

  • CHELSEA have received a boost in their hunt for Wilfred Zaha after he hired super-agent Pini Zahavi to help secure his move away from Selhurst Park, according to reports.

The Crystal Palace winger is looking for a way out of the club having failed to secure his dream move last summer.

Zaha, 27, was so angry at Palace's refusal to let him leave that he went AWOL from training but was given reassurances that he would be sold during or at the end of next season.

Chelsea remain keen admirers as boss Frank Lampard plots to land a new winger as long-term replacements for Willian and Pedro.

And the latest revelation will hand the Blues a huge boost with Zahavi tasked with engineering his move.

According to the Daily Mail, Israeli agent Zahavi has close ties with Chelsea and is even mates with owner Roman Abramovich.

The 76-year-old has some of the biggest names on his books including Bayern Munich frontman Robert Lewandowski.
