Crystal Palace next manager odds: Nuno Esprito Santo favourite despite Everton talks, Lampard, Dyche & Howe contenders

NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO is the favourite to become manager of Crystal Palace.

That's according to bookmakers Betfair, who've installed the Portuguese coach at 11/8 to fill the vacant position at Selhurst Park.

Nuno was available at 5/1 last week but that price has tumbled to 11/8 after a flurry of activity in the betting market.

The 47-year-old is eager to return to management and feels he's got a 'point to prove' after leaving Molineux after four years in charge.

Sky Sports claim Nuno has held three days of talks with the Premier League club but hasn't committed to taking the role in South London.

And that COULD have something to do with interest from Everton, who themselves are searching for a new manager after the departure of Carlo Ancelotti.

Nuno is odds-on to be the Toffees' next managerial appointment with an interview expected to take place in the coming days.

Long-time favourite Eddie Howe is next in the betting market at 7/4.

The 43-year-old was 1/16 to take charge at Celtic but that move is off the table after some of Howe's trusted backroom operators decided against following him to Glasgow.

Swansea manager Steve Cooper has been backed into 4/1 after the Welsh club's Championship playoff final defeat to Brentford.

The former England Under-17 boss has plenty of admirers including Barry Fry, who thinks he'd be an excellent choice for Crystal Palace.

He told Football FanCast: I think Palace will go for a younger guy. The boy Cooper has done brilliantly at Swansea on a shoe-string budget.

"He got in the play-offs last year, the play-off final this year.

"Plays excellent football, been in charge of England at youth level when they were successful, so he's got a lot of contacts and plays the right way."

Burnley's Sean Dyche and Valerian Ismael of Barnsley are next at 6/1 and 15/2 respectively with Frank Lampard drifting from 7s to 10s.

Axed Sheffield United chief Chris Wilder is also offered at 10/1 and Fulham's Scott Parker completes the list at 12/1.
