Dana White expects crunch talks with Khabib to last 'FIVE MINUTES' as he looks to convince Russian to return to UFC

DANA WHITE expects his crunch comeback talks with UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov to last just FIVE minutes.

The UFC chief is set to meet the recently-retired Russian in Abu Dhabi in the coming days to discuss a potential return to the octagon.

White is confident of convincing The Eagle to reverse his retirement decision, but he doesn't expect their conversation to be a long one.

He told MMA Junkie: “It’s going to be a five-minute conversation. It’s yes or no. It’s yes or no.”

Nurmagomedov, 32, announced his retirement from MMA last October after beating Justin Gaethje in the main event of UFC 254.

The undefeated Dagestani destroyer called time on his career after promising his mother he'd no longer compete without his later father – Abdulmanap – by his side.

Despite Nurmagomedov's firm stance on returning to the cage, White remains confident he will fight again.

He added: “When I left Abu Dhabi last time, and he and I were texting, we went back and forth on why I think he should keep fighting

“He was super emotional coming out of that fight. He’s had time now to rest, think about it, (and) all the other things.

"This is going to be a five-minute conversation – I think he’ll fight, but we’ll see.

"It’s not going to be an argument or a lengthy conversation. It’s going to be a ‘yes’ or ‘no.'”

White reckons Nurmagomedov is at the peak of his powers and believes it'd be a shame for him to walk away now.

He told ESPN: "I’m obviously meeting with him because I believe that he should fight again.

"I mean, look at what he did to Justin Gaethje. Look at what he’s done to every opponent he has faced.

"Like when I wanted [Daniel] Cormier to stay, I still think they’re the best in the world. And then there’s always the argument, well, it’s never a bad thing to go out on top.

"And when you talk about money, I mean Khabib has money beyond belief.

"This guy doesn’t ever have to work again and he still has the ability to do things to make unbelievable money.

"He’s in a very unique position as a fighter.

"I have no idea [how the meeting is going to go] but I think he should fight again and I’m gonna press him as hard as I can for one more."
