Daniel Jones probably won’t have a spot at the poker table after Thursday night.
Following news the Giants pulled the trigger on Georgia tackle Andrew Thomas with the fourth overall pick in Thursday night’s NFL Draft 2020, Rich Eisen and a collection of NFL insiders and legends pressed the second-year quarterback about the pick during the Draft-A-Thon coverage for coronavirus relief.
“Here we go, I had no idea,” Jones said while grinning ear-to-ear in the Zoom call. “I’m kidding, someone texted me a couple minutes ago.”
After the group erupted into laughter, Jones added of his new protector: “Thats exciting, though.”
Jones was in Thomas’ position last year after the Giants surprisingly used the No. 6 pick on the Duke star. Now, the addition of Thomas boosts the Giants’ long-depleted offensive line, giving Jones a bit of breathing room under center.
As for Jones’ neutral expressions, former Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson believes they need a bit of work.

“Hey Daniel, let me give you some advice, don’t ever play poker,” he said.
Jones responded, “I didn’t say anything until the pick came out, I stayed strong.”
Here’s hoping Jones keeps it together again for Friday, with the Giants holding pick No. 36.
