Jabrill Peppers tweaks Eagles with sad NFL Draft photo of DeVonta Smith

The lifelong North Jerseyan in Jabrill Peppers couldn’t resist tweaking Eagles fans.

The Giants’ co-captain published two side-by-side photos on Instagram of 2021 first-round NFL Draft picks DeVonta Smith (Eagles) and Kadarius Toney (Giants). Toney is wearing an ear-to-ear grin as he holds up his Giants jersey, while Smith is wearing headphones and his face is devoid of emotion as he holds up his Eagles jersey.

“The difference of being drafted by the Giants than by the Eagles is clear,” Peppers wrote as his caption, underneath three laughing emojis.

Throw another layer on the Giants-Eagles rivalry.

The Giants snapped an eight-game losing streak to the Eagles on Nov. 15, 2020, and Peppers, an East Orange native and former Paramus Catholic High School star, had a redemptive performance in the 27-17 victory.

Six weeks later, the Eagles essentially played to lose in Week 17, when a win would’ve sent the Giants to the playoffs over Washington. The coaching decision made by the since-fired Doug Pederson angered Giants coach Joe Judge.

The Eagles irritated the Giants again in the first round of the NFL Draft, by trading up from pick No. 12 to No. 10 with the rival Cowboys to get in front of the Giants. Smith would’ve been the Giants’ pick at No. 11. Once Smith went to the Eagles, the Giants pivoted, traded down nine spots with the Bears, selected Toney at No. 20 and pocketed an extra 2022 first-round pick.

The NFL schedule is set to be released on May 12. If the schedule-makers are paying attention, Giants-Eagles in Week 1 is the way to go.
