ROMELU LUKAKU and David De Gea are not in Manchester United's squad for the friendly against bitter rivals Leeds in Australia.
This is despite boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinting in the week that both would be ready to make their first pre-season appearance.
Sergio Romero is between the sticks, while Marcus Rashford has been handed his favoured striker role.
Solskjaer explained that De Gea "fell ill" on the day of the game, while Lukaku is "not ready".
It will only intensify speculation that Lukaku is on his way out of Old Trafford.
Meanwhile De Gea is still to sign a prospective £350,000-a-week deal to stay at the club.
SunSport exclusively revealed on Tuesday that Inter Milan will this week tell United they will meet their £75million asking price for Lukaku – but only in a deal including bonus payments.
United last week made it clear to the Italian club that they were not prepared to drop their valuation of the 26-year-old striker.
The Serie A side have now accepted they are going to have to break the bank to bring in Antonio Conte’s number one target.
But they are only in a position to come up with a guaranteed £60m over three years, with the further £15m dependent on how successful Lukaku is at the San Siro.
They are set to propose a down payment of around £40m up front, with the balance spread over the next 24 months.
