Races don't come much better than the Savills Chase at Leopardstown on Monday. A humdinger if ever there was one.

Not much has gone right for Gordon Elliott over the Festive period so far, but his DELTA WORK (2.25 Leopardstown) can go back-to-back in this prestigious race.

He was one of the best staying chasers in training last year, and he looked rusty when fifth in a slowly-run race at Down Royal on his return to action.

But it was the same story last season, when he was pretty laboured first time out before bouncing back to win this race bravely from the re-opposing Monalee.

That outing will have blown away the cobwebs and it's a boost to his chances that the ground at Leopardstown isn't too bad, considering the amount of rain Storm Bella brought to the rest of Britain and Ireland.

There should be plenty of pace for him to attack here and he is 3-3 over C&D. I think he's a massive price.

In the Christmas Hurdle, RONALD PUMP (1.15 Leopardstown) can bag connections a huge prize.

He looked held when falling at the last in the Lismullen Hurdle first time out, a race eventually won by market leader Sire Du Berlais.

But he took a big step forward at Fairyhouse last time with a fine second to Honeysuckle in the Hatton's Grace, and he may have caused an upset if he'd been able to get going a few strides earlier.

The step back up to three miles is an obvious plus and on the evidence of that brilliant runner-up effort last month he is still improving.

Sire Du Berlais hasn't been at his best on two visits here (albeit he has probably had a trip to the Pertemps at Cheltenham in mind when running here…) and they're pretty closely matched on form. Ronald Pump is the bet at the prices.
