ZINEDINE ZIDANE wants Real Madrid to launch a £100million bid to sign N'Golo Kante next summer, it has been claimed.
Real boss Zidane has been a long-term admirer of the Chelsea star ever since he played a key role in helping Leicester win the Premier League.
SunSport reported yesterday that the Spanish giants made their interest in the midfielder known earlier this year and Chelsea have agreed to give them a heads-up if they are willing to sell.
But the Athletic now say Zidane has told his bosses in Madrid that they should make a serious effort to sign the 28-year-old at the end of this season.
Kante is widely regarded as the best player in his position in world football and is one of Chelsea's most prized assets.
And Zidane believes he can make a major difference in the heart of his side as he attempts to build a new team capable of dominating European football.
He had originally wanted a deal done over the past summer, but accepted that was impossible given he had gone all-out to capture Eden Hazard.
But the interest remains in the diminutive midfielder, and the manager will ask for the financial backing from his bosses to make it happen over the close season.
Chelsea know Kante is wanted by a number of clubs across Europe, with Paris Saint-Germain also making their interest known.
But now the London club are having to brace themselves for a raid on their squad from Real for the third summer running.
Two years ago they waded in for goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, and the Blues reluctantly agreed to sell him for £35m.
And a season long pursuit of Hazard finally paid off for Real earlier this year, with the clubs agreeing a deal worth up to £150m for the Belgian.
Chelsea's hope is that Zidane's interest is stronger than the rest of the Real board, with it entirely possible the Frenchman may not be in charge next summer if Los Blancos' poor form from last year continues.
