Twins sign Josh Donaldson to $92 million deal

MLB’s free agent herd is a little thinner now.

Third baseman Josh Donaldson agreed to a four-year, $92 million deal with the Minnesota Twins, according to MLB.com.

The 34-year-old bounced back from an injury-riddled 2018 season to mash 37 homers with 100 RBIs with the Braves in 2019, good for a WAR of 6.1.

Minnesota, which fell to the Yankees in the 2019 ALDS, hopes Donaldson, the 2015 AL MVP with the Blue Jays, will help keep up the likes of the Bombers, Houston Astros, Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays in a crowded field.

The three-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger should make a young Twins team that led the American League in home runs (307) and RBI (906) and finished second with 5.8 runs per game that much more fearsome.
