Who is ex-world darts champion Ted Hankey?

FORMER darts player Ted Hankey wrote his name in the history books when he secured the BDO World Championship in 2000 and 2009.

But he is now set to face jail time for a sickening sex attack on a young woman which was caught on camera.

The footage that was played to the judge after the courtroom had been cleared of public and press enabled Hankey to get a sentencing time of two years.

Which has left darts fans wondering if the former champion will ever participate in the sport again.

Born on February 20, 1968, Edward "Ted" Hankey was raised in Stoke-on-Trent, England and has been playing darts since 1997.

Hankey frequently got wound up in matches and would launch tirades at spectators who got under his skin.

During a match against John Walton, the Brit could be heard saying "Who's in charge, me or the devil?" whilst throwing his arrows towards the dartboard.

But his controversy on the Oche is what standouts the most when Hankey blamed the crowd for his erratic performance at the 2008 BDO World Championship.

Ted received a warning from referee Barry Gilbey for punching the dartboard midway through a match.
