Scottish meteorologist Carol Kirkwood has spent more than 20 years at the BBC and usually presents the weather forecast on BBC Breakfast. If Carol is unable to host, newcomer Owain Wyn Evans often steps in to give the latest weather news. However, on Saturday, Matt Taylor, arrived to present the weather.

Matt, who joined the BBC team in 2004, took to social media on Saturday to let his followers know he would be presenting the weather on BBC Breakfast.

“Morning! Guess the weather headline,” Matt began. “No prizes though, it’s too easy at the moment.

“For the full weather forecast, join me on @BBCBreakfast.”

Owain, who usually presents the weather at the weekend if Carol is unavailable, also took to social media to let his 95,000 followers where he was.

Retweeting a video to his Twitter account, Owain explained he would be taking part in a global live streaming drumming event.

“Hello everyone,” he began in the video. “Join me at the drum kit which is at the BBC Breakfast studio and there’s a reason.

“There’s massive drumming event happening over the next couple of days, many drummers involved.

“Tune in to BBC Breakfast on Saturday morning to find out more.”
