Coronation Street spoilers: Cobbles legend makes shock return in time for Norris Cole's funeral

CORRIE legend Freda Burgess makes a shock return in time for Norris Cole’s funeral next week in Coronation Street.

Freda was last seen in July when she paid a visit to quadruplet parents Chesney Brown and Gemma Winter to see how they’re coping with their deaf son Aled.

Next week, she returns to say a final goodbye to her partner Norris.

Viewers will see George show Freda the Order of Service for Norris’s funeral.

George is mortified when Freda points out that he’s got Norris’s date of birth wrong.

Later in the week, the mourners gather in church for Norris’s funeral and Audrey hands round a hip flask of tequila.

Mary takes a huge gulp while Gail watches on with concern.

Everything comes together as Rita delivers a touching eulogy about her best friend.

When Billy reads a letter left by Norris, Freda and Mary are touched by his words.

After teasing that the paperboy outside The Kabin contains a secret, Norris finishes by revealing that Rita used to surreptitiously have her hair coloured by Claudia.

It all kicks off as Audrey rounds on Rita for her betrayal, but will the pair’s row ruin the big day?

Outside The Kabin, Mary, Ken, Gail and Brian gather to unlock the secret that Norris hid inside the paperboy.

Mary eventually returns with a chainsaw, but what lies inside?

Also next week, Freda causes drama when she snatches Gemma Winter’s son Aled after hearing Bernie assert that he’ll be able to live a ‘normal’ life after his cochlear implant operation.

Freda shows Aled a website dedicated to successful deaf people in the community centre and, when Gemma peers in at the window demanding Aled back, Freda refuses to hand him over.

Chesney arrives, but will they be able to get Freda to come out before Aled misses his operation?
