Coronation Street's Colson Smith reveals blazing row with co-star Jack P Shepherd after knee injury leaves him furious

CORONATION Street star Colson Smith has opened up about a furious row he had with Jack P Shepherd after his nightmare injury.

The 21-year-old Craig Tinker actor was devastated by a foot injury which has left him 'crying' after going for a run on Christmas Day.

Colson previously revealed how the injury was left to get worse as the combination of Tier 4 restrictions and Christmas working hours saw physiotherapists closed.

Frustrated and in pain, the star has opened up about taking out his anger on his best mate Jack, 33, who plays David Platt in the soap.

Speaking on their shared podcast the Sofa Cinema Club, the pair discussed how Colson "took it out on Jack" as they argued over designs for their new branded merchandise.

Days after the painful injury to his foot, Colson explained he'd planned to go on a walk in Manchester as he was unable to run.

He detailed how he up getting lost and walking "25 miles in one direction" along the Bridgewater Canal and ending up in Warrington, Cheshire.

Having walked for "five hours", Colson said the pain killers for his already painful injury "wore off" and he ended up developing a "new injury" to his knee.

Suffering from the pain, Colson said he "took it out" on Jack: "I took it out on Jack actually with the mugs.

"[Sofa Cinema Club] are going to release some limited-edition mugs. To get the mugs, I needed to do something to the logo."

The actor explained he sent the new design to Jack to "prove he'd done the job" and was working extra hours outside the podcast.

"After, Jack said, 'It looks a bit s***'," Colson went on. "I was like, 'It's not going to f***ing look like that is it? That's why I've done that'."

Turning to further verbally attack Jack, he added: "He hasn't got a clue what's going on because he left school at eight to go an entertain people."

Colson explained that he "took some of his stress" out on Jack as his co-star continued to question the design of the mug.

"I was so tempted to turn around and say, 'Jack, do it yourself'," he said. "But I thought, 'No, I'm going to battle on with him because he's just being awkward'."

Jack, who kept fairly quiet during the on-air rant, simply replied: "I just wasn't sure about them being white, that's all."

Colson recently revealed on the podcast that the injury had been leaving him "in tears" at night time.

Colson added: "I ran on Christmas Day, which might not have been the smartest move in hindsight.

"It's pain you can cope with and then it's not pain you can cope with. It's weird. It just isn't right. It's annoying, and it's really, really frustrating."

The actor, who has played the officer in the popular ITV soap since 2011, has shed a whopping 10 stone over the past year.

The star previously revealed he's taken up running, showing off his new slimline look when he returned to the Corrie set after the first national lockdown.
