Corrie’s Sally Carman teases scenes to rival tram crash after NTAs glory

Coronation Street star Sally Carman has spilled the beans on what fans can expect from the soap in the future after it won the award for Best Serial Drama at the National Television Awards.

Sally said: "There’s a lot of beans coming up, some beans that could be something you’ve never seen before from Coronation Street, that could rival the tram crash.

“It’s amazing you’re going to have your socks blown off and your hair blown off.”

Iain MacLeod, executive producer of Corrie added: “We have tried to look at the last 12 months and the limited way soaps have been forced to tell stories and we tried to subvert that.

“We're back – it’s going to be big, the classic births, deaths and marriages. it's going to be cinematic, it’s going to be huge.”

When further questioned on whether audiences will see one of the characters die, he replied: “I mean. Yes…”

It comes after Sally picked up the award for Best Soap Actress at the TV Choice Awards on Monday night.

The 40-year-old said she was "absolutely made up" to be collecting the award in her winner's speech and said her current storyline has been a "privilege" to be a part of.

She also encouraged fans to take a look at the Sophie Lancaster Foundation, the charity set up by Sylvia Lancaster in memory of her daughter who was murdered for the way she looked and has inspired Corrie's heartbreaking storyline.

Sally ended her message by thanking her parents and gran as well as co-star and fiancé Joe Duttine, who plays Tim Metcalf, adding: "I love you!”
