EastEnders fans certain Suki Panesar is ‘faking dying’ after tell-tale clues

EastEnders has introduced the Panesar matriarch in the form of Suki (played by Balvinder Sopal), though it seems she may not be on the soap for too long.

The new EastEnders cast member Suki Panesar is dying of cancer, according to her backstory, but fans of the BBC One series are speculating that she might be faking her illness.

They noticed a few holes in her story, seeing it as a way for her to control her children – Kheerat (Jaz Deol), Jags (Amar Adatia), Vinny (Shiv Jalota) and Ash (Gurlaine Kaur Garcha).

One clue came when her boys told her that she'd survived the cancer much longer than they thought she would.

Another rather telling moment came when Suki went to Ash's door, only for her daughter to ignore her.

Rather than simply walking away, Suki stumbled and collapsed into the wall, causing Ash to run up to her and help her.

Fans were left convinced that Suki isn't actually ill, taking to Twitter with their suspicions – and there are clues from actress Balvinder Sopal, too.

One tweeted: "Suki is totally lying just so Ash feels sorry for her."

Another wrote: "Convinced that Suki is lying about her cancer."

A third said: "Suki is gonna be trouble. She's lying about dying guaranteed."

Someone else said: "This Suki is pretending and lying."

And a fifth added: "Hoping that it turns out Suki is lying about the dying thing, because she's already far more interesting than her sons."

Actress Balvinder previously spoke of her character, teasing: "She is very controlling, very manipulative and wants her way a lot of the time.

"She is the sort of person that puts an idea into your head and lets the seed grow, as if you came up with it.

"Family is really important, and she just wants everybody to be together. She wants to keep the boys and Ash close.

"Yes, Suki wants her family back together, and she's determined to do whatever it takes to do so, but given all that transpired in the past, she'll no doubt encounter many obstacles."

EastEnders continues tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One
