EastEnders has been hit with complaints after Kush Kazemi’s (Davood Ghadami) violent death.
The dramatic scenes shocked fans, as the character was pushed in front a train by serial killer Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith).
A report published by the BBC confirms that 106 complaints were received after the episode aired on April 19.
The topic of the complaints is listed as ‘violence.’
Davood’s departure was confirmed last year, with insiders teasing a ‘huge’ exit plot for the fan favourite character.
However, no one was quite ready for the scenes that ensued, with killer Gray emerging from the shadows just as Kush and Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) planned to abscond to Dubai and leave Walford behind.
As Whitney left Kush alone to take little Arthur to the toilet, Gray emerged from the dark, becoming violent and aggressive.
Kush, shocked at the solicitor’s abhorrent behaviour, told him that he’s grieving – and that he needs help.
Gray, outraged, saw red once more, and lunged at him, but ultimately found himself on the tracks.
The train emerged from the darkness, prompting Kush to swoop into action, as he begged Gray to take his hand.
The killer complied, and Kush pulled him up just in time.
With Gray back to safety, Kush wasted little time in berating him for his reckless actions – telling him he could’ve killed himself.
Gray, meanwhile, spied an opportunity, and – quickly getting to his feet – he violently pushed Kush into the path of the oncoming train.
Kush wasn’t Gray’s first victim, with the killer also murdering his wife Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer) and Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White).
While fans will get to see Davood again in Holby City, after he landed a role as new surgeon Eli, they were heartbroken to see Kush meet his tragic end.
Head of BBC Continuing Drama Kate Oates said of the actor’s exit: ‘Davood is a fantastic actor and a hugely popular company member, so we will miss him hugely.’
