EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt admits that he hates his dramatic duff-duff moments

EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt has revealed that he hates it when his character Ian Beale ends up getting one of those dramatic duff-duff moments that come at the end of every episode.

The actor appeared on This Morning on Monday (December 3) where he discussed his future on the BBC One soap, as well as his forthcoming turn as Abanazar in the Aladdin pantomime in Swindon.

And, while reflecting on his three decades on the soap, Adam also revealed to presenters Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes that he hates those infamous EastEnders cliffhanger reveals, which itself is also quite the cliffhanger reveal…

“I hate those bits,” he said when Rochelle asked if it’s still exciting to be given that moment. “You have to stand there for four seconds like a lemon.

“You’d respond normally, in the real world. Somebody has just given you some vital information like, ‘Cindy’s dead‘. You’d say something.

“Actually trying to stand there for four seconds and not do anything…”

During the interview, Adam also bemused fans by appearing to abruptly walk off-camera. Thankfully, the mystery was soon solved after the ad break, when it turned out that what Adam was actually doing was grabbing a gift for Phillip Schofield.

You can watch the moment for yourself (and find out what the gift was) right here.

This Morning continues weekdays at 10.30am on ITV, while EastEnders airs Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
