Emmerdale fans have been left fuming after producers confirmed Meena Jutla's serial killer storyline will go on "for months".

During Wednesday's episode of the ITV soap, Meena drove the Dingles' van into the barn to poison Vinny Dingle and her sister Manpreet with its noxious fumes, intent on killing them.

And though the plot has drawn numerous Ofcom complaints, it's set to continue for the foreseeable – though Meena is set to meet her fate soon enough.

Speaking to The Mirror, Emmerdale's executive producer Jane Hudson and producer Laura Shaw told press: "I think it's fair to say that judgement day for Meena is coming. But whether she'll get away with murder you're going to have to wait and find out.

"There are still some more twists and turns to be had in this story. Some that you probably won't see coming but I think we can all agree that Meena can pretty much do anything."

They added: "But yes, Meena's judgement day is coming. It won't play out quite as you expect, there will be a lasting effect on a lot of the villagers but I think within the next few months, Meena will get what's coming with her."

And fans have been left furious at the news.

One fan posted: "How long's this Meena storyline going to continue, it's dragging on, hopefully she will be found out soon for her crimes and put in jail if and when the police catch up with her."

Someone else said: "Another daft episode again, with Meena's so-called drama!"

As another fumed: "Emmerdale has gone downhill what with this never-ending story concerning Meena… I don't know if I can take any more of it!"

"If this storyline isn't over by the end of the week I'm going to hunt Meena down and fling her in the poxy barn!" a fourth fan penned.
