Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reunion reveals two stars turned down show

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reunion is set to reveal a few secrets as Will Smith and his beloved castmates take a trip down memory lane together.

The actor joined co-stars Tatyana Ali (Ashley), Karyn Parsons (Hillary), Joseph Marcell (Jeffrey), Daphne Maxwell Reid (Aunt Viv), Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton) popped up in classic style and recurring co-star DJ Jazzy Jeff for the HBO Max special.

As they spoke together in the show’s iconic living room, Jazzy Jeff admitted he had initially refused to take part in the show.

He explained to the group: ‘I had no aspirations to act… Will is very good at talking me into things.’

‘Jeff turned down the show literally ten times,’ Will added.

Daphne Maxwell Reid then admitted that she hadn’t been keen on the idea of joining the cast as the second Aunt Vivian either.

She explained: ‘They said, “We want you to audition for this new sitcom with a rapper.” I said “Pass”.’ 

The 52-year-old actor and the rest of the beloved cast came together earlier this year to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iconic 90s sitcom and fans will finally be able to watch it all go down next week.

Will delighted fans with a surprise drop of the trailer on Instagram on Friday as he wrote: ‘These are the people who made me the man I am today. And I couldn’t let this day go by without marking the occasion. 

‘@freshprince reunion… Nov 19 on @hbomax! #freshprincereunion.’

Weeks before, Karyn warned fans to be prepared for a ‘roller-coaster’ of emotions as the cast also pay tribute to late co-star James Avery.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reunion airs on HBO Max on November 19.
