I'm A Celeb and Masterchef star Sam Quek reveals baby's cute name as she opens up on gruelling 27-hour labour

SAM Quek has revealed she’s called her baby Molly Doris Mairs as she opened up about her gruelling 27-hour labour.

The 32-year-old and husband Tom Mairs became parents at the start of March after the former Olympian went 11 days overdue.

Sam ended up having a c-section which Tom described as a “traumatic” experience due to his wife’s impressive stomach muscles making it hard to cut out the baby.

Discussing the birth, Sam told OK! Magazine:"We got to 6cm [dilated] at midnight and it went on for hours.

"The consultant kept coming in and I wasn’t moving from 6cm.

"She said, 'Listen, you’re absolutely shattered. You’ve gone through a lot, your waters have been broken for longer than we’d like.'"

Tom, 35, continued: "They checked her at hour 24 and said, “You’re still at 6cm, what do you want to do?”

"Sam was like, 'It’s time to discuss options.' The baby’s head was starting to swell."

Sam admitted she struggled to come to terms with having a c-section and said she felt like a failure because she also found breastfeeding difficult due to a low supply of milk.

I’m A Celeb star Sam announced she had given birth at the start of March by sharing a picture of her holding her daughter’s hand.

She accompanied it with her date of birth: "02.03.2021"

The couple, who wed two years ago,  first revealed they were expecting last November,  just months after they went through a devastating miscarriage.

Remembering the painful time, Sam – who won gold as part of the Team GB hockey team in 2016 – said: "I didn’t want to speak to anyone. I had guilt and shame that it was my fault.

"I was looking back at everything I did during pregnancy and replaying every single minute.

"I put it all on me and my body. But I never said that to Tom at the time."
