I'm a Celebrity's Declan Donnelly jokes about viewers' backpack conspiracy theory live on air

Just days after some alleged that Noel Edmonds’ exit was a FIX, people had another I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! conspiracy theory they were claiming was stone-cold fact.

Yesterday’s (December 2) episode saw Hollyoaks star Malique Thompson-Dwyer leave the camp, and because he was wearing a backpack at the time, viewers were convinced that the celebrities had been told in advance who was leaving.

ITV confirmed to Digital Spy that this wasn’t the case, as the celebs have no idea of the results before Dec and Holly read them out, and they can choose to prep and wear backpacks in advance or not.

Furthermore, tonight’s (November 3) episode saw Declan Donnelly reference the ‘scandal’.

After Holly told viewers they would decide who would go, Dec said, “Well, if the conspiracy theories are anything to go by, whoever’s got their backpack on!” and did the old shifty eyes.

Later on, we saw Holly and Dec head down to camp and reveal live that Sair Khan was the third campmate to leave the show, and she didn’t even have a backpack on!

Unfortunately, that didn’t stop the theories (though we’re assuming these are jokes… right?):

Rebekah Vardy recently claimed that the programme is scripted and that campmates are told to discuss certain topics round the fire, but Jake Quickenden denied those claims in an exclusive chat with Digital Spy.

I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! continues on Tuesday (December 4) at 9pm on ITV, followed directly after by Extra Camp over on ITV2.
