Jordan North faced another one of his fears during tonight’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Bushtucker Trial. He and Shane Ritchie were chosen to take part in Viper Vault and those watching at home saw them locked inside a vault which was built into the castle floor. Inside each vault were five locked safes, each containing the all-important precious star for dinner. When Jordan and Shane emerged from the Trial, the BBC Radio 1 DJ told Ant and Dec how he managed to get through it considering his highly-strung emotions and he revealed a technique which could land him in the final.

Ant continued to explain how each safe was numbered one to 10 and they would require a code to open them.

The code to the first safe was with them in the vault and they had to work together to open all the safes.

With just 10 minutes to find 10 stars, the pressure was on.

Before starting, Jordan expressed his concern: “I’ve never been this scared in my life,” and Shane hugged him.

Those watching at home saw Jordan be given a few minutes to compose himself and with Shane’s encouragement, the DJ headed underground.

After the klaxon started, Jordan communicated to Shane to get the codes open to his first safe as snakes entered the vaults.

Jordan kept thinking of his “happy place” and continued to open the safes and retrieve the stars in between shrieks and screams.

Eventually, they got into a rhythm and managed to open nine safes which meant nine stars for dinner.

After emerging from underground, Jordan was ecstatic and told the presenters: “My brother said to me….” and Shane interjected: “Why didn’t you do Strictly Come Dancing?”

Jordan laughed and continued: “My brother, who is a paratrooper said to me no matter how scared or cold you get to think of your happy place.”

“Where was that? You never mentioned it!” Dec teased.

“Honestly, that was the most scariest thing I’ve ever done in my life, I feel like crying,” Jordan commented.

“I had a little panic attack at one point. I couldn’t move my body around – but I know my kids would be screaming at the television. I’m so glad we’ve come out,” Shane added.

“All I could hear was ‘Happy place, left 42, Happy place right 10!’” Shane commented as the lads walked back to camp.

“I wouldn’t be able to do it without him,” Jordan told his fellow campmates about Shane’s support.

Should Jordan approach every Bushtucker Trial with this mindset, he could find himself thriving and in the final.

Despite being utterly petrified, Jordan taking part in the Trial was good television.

One said on Twitter: “Ok Jordan to win !! He is TV Gold – It shouldn’t be that enjoyable watching someone be that terrified & he was absolutely terrified .. but still went in there & faced it.”

“So proud of you, Jordan! 2 fears conquered in 2 days!!” Someone else remarked.

A third added: “I am now fully invested in #ImACeleb because Jordan North is precious, and if he doesn’t win I’ll riot.”

“Jordan is such a lovely guy but he’s still doing the trials! He could win King of the Castle!” Another mentioned.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! airs every night at 9pm on ITV.
