Laura Tobin was every inch the proud mum as she revealed her daughter Charlotte started school for the first time this week.

Charlotte, who the Good Morning Britain meteorologist shares with husband Dean Brown, was born prematurely at 27 weeks and weighed just 2lb 8oz in 2017.

Chatting to Sean Fletcher on Wednesday, Laura, 39, explained why it was even more momentous that Charlotte start school this year.

‘I think it’s a little more special than most people starting school, viewers are aware that she was born really prematurely,’ the TV star began before the weather report.

‘She was born just before 28 weeks in July, it should have been October, so she was born in the completely wrong school year.

‘I guess we always thought she’d start school next year, September 2022, you can defer a child in that situation. But they’re so happy with her progress and how she’s doing, she started almost a year early.’

Laura added: ‘So we are just so proud of her, she ran in and had two and a half hours, day off today, back tomorrow. A wonderful, wonderful day.’

The previous day, the presenter had posted an adorable photo of Charlotte wearing her school uniform on Instagram.

She wrote: ‘So today this happened! My (not so little) Charlotte started school!

‘I know there are lots of these on grids at the moment but this one is particularly special.’

Laura added that she and husband Dean have been ‘blown away’ by Charlotte’s progress, explaining: ‘She is amazing, kind and clever and here we are staring school “early” I didn’t dare dream about this day when she was born but now it’s reality-I’m a very proud Mummy 🥰🤩 #firstday.’

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
