The Bedroom Floor singer kicked off Capital's Jingle Bell Ball with Coca-Cola last night where he performed with Lennon Stella in front of 16,000 people.
Liam – whose ex Cheryl Tweedy will tonight return to the stage after her "disastrous" X Factor comeback at the Ball – got fans excited about a possible reunion.
Despite hopes for the band to release more music together, the 25-year-old says they're just planning on catching up over the festive period.
Careful not to bring up Zayn by name following rumours of yet another dig from his former bandmate, Liam spoke about reuniting with the boys following their hiatus in January 2016.
Talking to Breakfast host Roman Kemp, Liam said: “I spoke to Niall, we spent like 4 hours on FaceTime, I hadn’t spoken to him in ages.
"It was actually really, really funny, we had a really good laugh.
“I hope to [see him over Christmas]. I mean, the thing about it is I can understand that we’re all quite tight like I was saying to him the other night, ‘oh I’l come over’ or whatever and then he flaked me twice so I was like ‘listen, I’ll just text you next week and we’ll see what’s happening.
"Just let me know when you’re available.’ Everyone’s so busy, it’s like it is what it is but it’s, um…yeah, I obviously saw Louis over the course of X Factor.
"I haven’t seen Harry in a while now but I think everybody’s in London at the moment, which is cool, for the first time. The closest we’ve been in the band in a while.”
Earlier this week Louis sparked rumours of another rift between Zayn and the band after the release of his new song.
Zayn, 25, dropped his latest track on Thursday and fans were quick to try and decipher the message behind the lyrics, believing it’s about his former band One Direction’s split.
The song is taken from Zayn’s yet to be released album Icarus Falls which features a whopping 27 tunes.
Apparently taking at his time in 1D, Zayn sings: “Too much drugs and alcohol, What the hell were we fighting for, I close my eyes and see a crowd of a thousand tears, I pray to God I didn’t waste all my good years.”
Talking about his own plans for Christmas day, the dad-of-one said: “We’re just gonna have a nice little family Christmas which will be good.
"I think I’m cooking now though, I think I’ve roped myself into cooking. Apparently I did a good job of it.
"This is the thing, if you do a good job at something like that, now that I did a good job, now I’m like ‘that’s me cheffing up again this year!’”
Last night David Guetta, Rita Ora, Olly Murs and Rak Su were among the big names to take to the stage at Capital's Jingle Bell Ball.
Tonight, Little Mix will headline with performances from Cheryl, Jason Derulo and Jess Glynne.
