Lisa Armstrong axed after infuriating BGT bosses by attention seeking on social media after split with Ant McPartlin

The 42-year-old regularly shares her views on social media and in October, was issued with a legal warning after making jibes about her ex-husband Ant McPartlin and his girlfriend Anne-Marie Corbett.

Insiders told The Sun it was these “repeated attempts to get media attention” that led to TV bosses deciding it was best for Lisa to leave the hit ITV talent show.

A source said: “Lisa was taken off Britain’s Got Talent because bosses have seen the way she constantly courts attention on social media.

“They don’t want someone working on the show who behaves in this manner. Hair and make-up artists on the show need to be behind the scenes, but Lisa constantly tries to keep herself in the spotlight by using social media to get publicity.”

Lisa’s slew of negative tweets aimed at Ant – who is the star of the show alongside Declan Donnelly –were key in bosses’ decision to terminate Lisa’s contract.

The insider added: “Lisa knows that if she likes negative tweets about Ant or tweets herself, then it will result in media coverage for herself. It has been happening for a year now.

“Producers on high profiles shows take a very dim on this sort of behaviour.

“It makes everyone on the show feel very uncomfortable that someone who is supposed to be a trusted behind the scenes person keeps on trying to get media coverage to promote themselves.”

After the news of her sacking was revealed, Lisa – who also works as on Strictly Come Dancing – made it clear she wasn’t happy with the decision and turned to social media to make her feelings clear.

When one of her followers asked whether she had decided herself to move onto “bigger and better things” she simply replied: “Nope”.

Filming for the next series of Britain’s Got Talent begins again in six weeks and today The Sun exclusively revealed Ant would be making his return to the spotlight on the show.

The 43-year-old took an extended break from the limelight earlier this year.
